Products Information

BENEFITS OF POLYESTER INSULATION
Made from 100% thermally bonded polyester fibre, our 100% Polyester Insulation is environmentally friendly, highly effective and durable. Other benefits include;
 Indoor air quality-no airborne fibres
 Comfort- warm in winter, cool in summer
 Safety- will not promote the spread of fire
 Easy to install-simply tear to desired size
 Long term use- will not move, degrade or rot

INSULATION TOOLS
Step ladder; lead light or torch; sharp scissors and installing stick or broom for those hard to reach areas.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: CEILING, FLOORS AND WALLS
Cut to size: Always cut batts slightly oversize to ensure a tight fit. The length of the batts can be shortened by simply tearing across the batts by hand. If you require to cut down the length of the batt, sharp scissors can easily do this. Insulate all areas of the ceiling and walls leaving no gaps. Off-cuts can be used to fill any small spaces. All batts are available in two widths to standard housing construction, this being 430mm for 450 stud/joist centres and 580mm for 600mm stud/joist centres.
Ceilings: Insulation batts are designed to give a tight fit between ceiling joists. Start installation at the furthest point from the ceiling manhole laying the batts on top of the plasterboard. Poke batts into tricky areas using a stick or broom handle. In skillion roofs a small ventilation gap between the cladding and insulation is recommended.
Walls: Insulation batts are designed to give a tight fit between wall studs ensuring stability of the insulation in the wall cavity. To assist, batts may need to be stapled or strung to hold batts in place until plasterboard is installed. Where string is required two length of string should be fixed between the studs top to bottom ensuring that they are evenly spaced
Floors: Insulation batts are designed to give a tight fit between floor joists on the underside of the timber or metal floor. If installing between floors or in sub floors, batts may need to be stapled or strung to hold in place until the plasterboard is installed. Where string is required two length of string should be fixed between the bottom of the joists ensuring that they are evenly spaced.

PRODUCT PERFORMANCE
Polyester batts will recover to a stable thickness within one month after installation depending on the ambient environment conditions. The product performance maybe reduced if stored in a compressed state for too long and we recommend the product be installed within 6 months of purchase. The total R value depends on the installation and may be greater than the material R value of this product alone. The material R value of this pack is determined at a mean temperature to comply with ASNZS 4859.1. The Material R value represented on this pack is the same R value achieved for summer and winter.

CAUTION
Electrical cables and equipment partially or completely surrounded by bulk thermal insulation may overheat or fail. This applies to wiring installed prior to 1989. Read the following instructions.
Be extremely careful with the electrical wiring in the walls and ceilings. Where possible place polyester insulation underneath electrical wiring or use a space to create an air gap between electrical wires and the insulation. This will allow access for maintenance and help in the prevention of overheating. A gap of 100mm should be left around heating flues, ceiling fans, down light fittings and exhaust fans.
